Cheddar and Jalapeno Burgers

Level of Difficulty: Medium
Serves: 6

Summer grilling season is here!! This week is a recipe for a Cheddar and Jalapeno stuffed burger. Cooking the Cheddar and Jalapeno inside the Burger infuses the flavor into the meat and creates a juicy, tender burger.

Cheddar and Jalapeno Burgers

1 poundLean Ground Beef
1Egg
1 tSalt
1 tFresh Ground Pepper (pre-ground pepper may contain gluten)
1/4 cupCheddar cheese
Jalapeno

Directions
    1. Dice the Cheddar and Jalapeno into~1/4 inch cubes.
Tip: The Jalapenos seeds contain a significant amount of the heat of the pepper, therefore I discard them to reduce the heat in this recipe.
    2. Mix the Ground Beef, Egg, Salt and Pepper in a large bowl. (I use my hands to mix the ingredients together)
    3. Form 6 thin patties (~1/4 inch thick) using half the Beef mixture.

    4. Place Cheddar and Jalapenos in the center of the patties, leaving an inch around the edge.
Tip: The Cheddar and Jalapenos can be adjusted to taste. Be careful not to over stuff the burger, steam will build in the pocket as the burger cooks.

    7.  Use the remaining beef mixture to create thin patties to place on top of the first patties and seal by squeezing the edges together.
    8. Grill the Burger on Medium to High heat.

Burgers may be frozen and cooked later.
