Ribs with Homemade BBQ Sauce

Level of Difficulty: Medium
Serves: 6

Ribs and BBQ sauce are a great comfort food for a cold day. Turing on the oven warms the house and they fill the house with a great smell. Beware of wearing a white shirt while eating these ribs. The sauce may have a magnetic attraction to the shirt! Many of mine have fallen victim.

BBQ Ribs
BBQ Sauce can often have hidden sources of Gluten. This is a recipe for a sauce made from scratch.

Recipe Title

2 poundsPork Ribs
1/2 cupOnion
1/2 cupCelery
1 tOil
1 TBrown Sugar
1/2 tSalt
1 TVinegar
1 TWorcestershire Sauce
1/2 cupWater
1 cupChile Sauce

Directions
    1. Pre-heat oven to 350F.

    2. Put the ribs into a large roaster and brown in oven for 1 hour. Drain the fat from the pan after 1 hour.

Tip: This will render the fat from the ribs and provide some caramelization, adding to the flavor of the ribs.

    Before

    After

    2. While the ribs are in the oven, prepare the sauce.

    3.  Dice the Onion and Celery.
4.Heat the oil in a medium sauce pan over medium heat and sweat the Onion and Celery, till they become translucent (2-3 minutes).

    5. Add the remaining ingredients (Brown Sugar, Salt, Vinegar, Worcestershire Sauce, Water, and Chile Sauce) to the pan and heat (2 minutes)

    6. Pour the sauce over the ribs and bake for an additional hour, basting periodically.

These may be frozen and reheated.  This is also a very flexible and forgiving recipe, so the ingredients do not need to be exact. They may also be baked longer, as they bake the meat tenderizes. Just ad water if they start to dry out.
